PRO Skijor Frontier Tour

Teton Valley Skijoring is proud to be an affiliated stop on the PRO Skijor Frontier Tour.

The first professional skijoring circuit connecting top races across the West!

What This Means

Our race remains 100% independently operated.

We continue to run the event with our own local leadership, rules, processes, and safety standards. The course, vibe, and community-driven experience you know and love stay exactly the same.

The only change is that for athletes who choose to participate in the PRO Skijor Frontier Tour, points earned at our race will count toward their Tour season standings. Tour membership is completely optional — everyone is still welcome to compete at our event, just as they always have.

Choose Your Path

Race Our Event Only (No “PRO Card” Required):
Anyone can enter the Teton Valley Skijoring Grand Showdown just as before. You’ll still be eligible for our event’s buckles, prizes, and cash payouts in your division.

Opt Into the Frontier Tour (Optional):
If you choose to join the Tour, points earned at our race will count toward your season standings on the Frontier Tour leaderboard.

How the Tour Works

Tour points are available only to athletes who opt into the Frontier Tour and compete in points-eligible divisions, as defined by the Tour.

(Reminder: You do not need to be a Tour member to compete at our race. Non-Tour competitors still compete fully for local awards and payouts.)

Step-By-Step Guide:

  1. Get your PRO Card (Join the Tour)
Register for a PRO Card to declare you’re in the Frontier Tour and intend to compete in 2+ qualifying events. From then on, your results are tracked for season points and Tour standings.
  2. Plan your stops
The Frontier Tour features five qualifying events. Enter one, two, or all five — the more you race, the more points you can stack and the stronger your shot at the leaderboard. (You don’t have to attend every stop.)
  3. Enter your division
Compete in a points-eligible division (PRO, Sport, Women’s, All-Around, Snowboard) at each Tour stop to earn points.
  4. Earn points every time you compete
Tour athletes receive base points for entering and performance placement points based on finish within their division at each stop.
  5. Climb the leaderboard
Your points from Tour events accumulate across the season and determine rankings by division.
  6. Qualify for the Finals
Top point-earners by division advance to the Championship Finals in Salt Lake City, Utah at the end of February – an epic showdown on the big stage.
  7. Crown the Champions
At the Finals, division winners are crowned Tour Champions – recognized as world champions in their class.
Why We’re Excited

We’re excited about the potential the Frontier Tour brings to the sport of skijoring as a whole, as well as to our community-run race. The Tour creates greater visibility for skijoring on a national stage, helping elevate the sport while still honoring the independent events that built it.

For athletes who choose to participate, the Tour offers new opportunities for exposure, season-long competition, and meaningful prize money — including the chance to qualify for high-profile Finals. We also see this as part of an exciting period of growth for the sport, and we’re proud that Teton Valley is playing a role in that momentum.

At the end of the day, everything that makes our race special stays the same — with the added option for competitors to chase Tour points, bigger opportunities, and an expanded spotlight if they choose.

Bottom Line

Everything you love about racing in Teton Valley stays the same, with the added option to chase Tour points and season rankings if you want them.

Competitor Specific FAQs

Registration Waitlist

Did you miss the registration deadline? Never fear! Head to our online registration page and use the “Join Waitlist” feature for your chosen division. Please note that this process requires you to provide payment information so that, if someone cancels their spot, you will be automatically entered into the competition and your credit card will be charged. There are no refunds on registration fees, so please make sure you are ready, willing, and able to compete before joining the waitlist!

Need to Make Changes to Your Team?

After registration is complete, if you need to make changes to your team, you should make those changes directly in our registration system. To do so, follow the below instructions:

  • Find your registration confirmation email (we recommend searching for “RegFox” in your emails).
  • At the bottom of that email, click on the link to “Set Up Account Now.”
  • On the page that pops up, click “Claim My Account,” then enter the email address that was used to create your registration.
  • Once you do that, the system will send you an email; in that email, click “Activate My Account.”
  • The system will then ask you to create a password, then you will be redirected to the page where you can edit your team details.

The deadline for these changes is 12am MST on Wednesday, 2/18.

Any changes made following this deadline will be considered (not guaranteed) and will require an additional $25 change fee.

Division & Run Orders

Division orders are as follows:

  • Saturday: Junior, Youth, Novice, Sport, Open, Snowboard, Women’s
  • Sunday: Junior, Youth, Women’s, Snowboard, Open, Sport, Novice

Run orders will be posted as soon as administratively possible once team confirmations are completed. We intend to make them available both on the website and on social media.

Timing

Laurel Timing (formerly Brooksee) will be providing timing for the event via a chip on a velcro strap to be worn by the skier around the wrist/forearm.

In order to preserve chip battery life, chips will be handed out before a run and collected immediately after the run.

When the division before yours ends, head to the start line; there will be a Laurel tent stationed there and the representative there will be handing out chips based on the run order in your division.

If you have not been able to get your chip in time for your run, let the start gate team know your team needs to be rolled down the list.

Any run made without a timing chip worn will be considered a DNF. It is the skier’s responsibility to make sure they acquire their chip before their run.

In the event that a chip is worn but fails or falls off, we will also be timing via a backup method.

There will be a cooler with heat packs stationed where the skier return track re-enters the start area. Skiers are expected to return their chips there or to the Laurel booth immediately following each run.

Timing technology will be buried where the skier start & skier finish are. Horses MUST stay clear of that marked area. Any horse interference with the timing setup, even unintentional, will be grounds for disqualification.

No Horses in the Spectator Area

For liability reasons, to ensure the longevity of our event and the safety of everyone on site, horses are not allowed in the event village/spectator area under any circumstances. Please keep your horses to the horse-friendly areas as designated on the event map (warmup area, trailer parking, indoor arena, return track) and the ample space that will be fenced off around the start line.

Course Safety

Course safety: If you notice a sketchy spot or the course is getting deep, let us know! Safety is our #1 concern and we have a dedicated course condition team on site to hear concerns, review conditions, and identify the best possible grooming solution.

Need a Teammate?

You must have a teammate to register!* Post in “Team Up for Teton Valley Skijoring” or “Skijoring Marketplace” on Facebook if you need to find one.

*Exception: Junior and Youth competitors are allowed to register with a “TBD” teammate; however, be aware that we will request these TBD entries be resolved within a very short time post-registration.

Refunds

There are no refunds unless the event is cancelled.
