Important Information
Rules & Regulations
The Grand Showdown Skijoring rules are designed to create a fair, competitive event as well as to ensure safety for spectators and competitors, horse and human alike.
Click to review the Rules & Regulations >
Mandatory Liability Waivers
No one may compete without a signed Liability Waiver. Link to the 2026 waiver to come once registration is open.
Timing Information
Timing Chips
Brooksee (now Laurel Timing!) will be providing timing for the event via a chip on a velcro strap to be worn by the skier around the wrist/forearm.
In order to preserve chip battery life, chips will be handed out before a run and collected immediately after the run.
When the division before yours ends, head to the start line; there will be a Laurel tent stationed there and the representative there will be handing out chips based on the run order in your division.
If you have not been able to get your chip in time for your run, let the start gate team know your team needs to be rolled down the list.
Any run made without a timing chip worn will be considered a DNF. It is the skier’s responsibility to make sure they acquire their chip before their run.
In the event that a chip is worn but fails or falls off, we will also be timing via a backup method.
There will be a cooler with heat packs stationed where the skier return track re-enters the start area. Skiers are expected to return their chips there or to the Laurel booth immediately following each run.
Timing Technology Interference
Timing Technology will be buried where the skier start & skier finish are. Horses MUST stay clear of that marked area. Any horse interference with the timing setup, even unintentional, will be grounds for disqualification.

No Horses in the Spectator Area
For liability reasons, to ensure the longevity of our event and the safety of everyone on site, horses are not allowed in the event village/spectator area under any circumstances. Please keep your horses to the horse-friendly areas as designated on the event map (warmup area, trailer parking, indoor arena, return track) and the ample space that will be fenced off around the start line.
Run Orders
Run orders will be posted as soon as administratively possible once team confirmations are completed. We intend to make them available both on the website and on social media.
Course Safety
Course safety: If you notice a sketchy spot or the course is getting deep, let us know! Safety is our #1 concern and we have a dedicated course condition team on site to hear concerns, review conditions, and identify the best possible grooming solution.
Refunds
There are no refunds unless the event is cancelled.
